The Design/Area Operational Geophysicist is responsible for planning and designing 2D, 3D, 3C, 4D, VSP, onshore, transition-zone, and offshore seismic programs, optimizing program parameters, optimization of program designs, while providing technical advice and ensuring IFQC/Pre processing deliverables to customers and operations functions.

SAExploration is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Design & Operational Geophysicist for our global operations. This is a salaried full time position, based in Calgary, AB., or Houston, TX.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, introduce and/or adopt innovative technologies/techniques.
  • Contribute at a senior level on decision making for technical, operational, and economic impact.
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports, and implement “best practices” and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist the operations management group in preparation of technical and commercial proposals.
  • Conduct field operations for geophysical survey projects and perform data processing tasks.
  • Ensure projects are being monitored and managed to achieve technical requirements.
  • Attend meetings and build effective, long-term relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure company technical standards are communicated and adhered to by Acquisition Operations.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external groups in support of projects for which the Company has technical and/or financial responsibilities or interests.
  • Maintain Geophysical Library of survey designs.
  • Support in-field quality control and pre processing routines, equipment and personnel.
  • Conduct customer support and field visits as required.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in geophysics, engineering geology, applied mathematics or closely related technical field.
  • Proficient in Ocean Bottom/Land seismic acquisition, in geophysical roles and survey design on different environments.
  • Experience using geophysical data acquisition and processing systems and software. Proficiency with Seismic Design Software: Omni, Mesa.
  • Ability to deliver results while working in a fast-paced, high-stress, and change driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects concurrently with time sensitive deadlines.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Solid understanding of the industry.
  • Requires fluency in English. Second language skills a plus.

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient project management of acquisition projects within the global operation, managing multiple projects on-time and on budget while partnering with individuals at all levels of the organization looking for opportunities to improve efficiencies, exceed safety targets, and further develop of long-term customer relationships.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Operations Supervisor for our global operations. This is a salaried full time position based in Calgary, AB., or Houston, TX.


Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure company QHSE goals are implemented and achieved across areas of responsibility.
  • Provide day-to-day management, direct and develop the field management team, while fostering a success-oriented, accountable environment within the field operations.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement plans (sales, operational, QHSE, technical, and personnel) designed to support field operations.
  • Support and participate in full implementation of the annual operational plan to enhance sales, safety, profitability, productivity, and efficiency within the operation.
  • Has P&L responsibility for crew operations. Exercises control over crew costs and performance and may submit periodic reports and analysis. Responsible for crew operating expenditures and the explanation of variations to budget.
  • Build effective, long-term relationships with clients, suppliers, sub-contractors and stakeholders.
  • Stay well informed of customer projects, budgets, organizational structures and potential work from key customers and monitor industry activities in order to assist in developing and maturing overall business strategies.
  • Visits assigned crews on a regular basis and maintains familiarity with crew operations, strengths and problem areas.

Qualifications: 

  • Proficiency in OBN / Land Seismic Acquisition process.
  • Advanced skills in negotiations and project management.
  • Ability to deliver results while working in a fast-paced, high-stress, and change driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects concurrently with time sensitive deadlines.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Solid understanding of the industry, business drivers and how to secure and keep business in both matured and developing markets.
