SAExploration is seeking an experienced and skilled Mechanical Manager to join our team in Alaska. This is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair and operation of mechanical systems and equipment used in seismic acquisitions projects, ensuring that all machinery operates efficiently and safely. The position also involves managing the shop, ensuring equipment readiness and proper organization, managing inventory and shop resources effectively. This position requires working in remote locations and often in challenging environments,

DUTIES

Field Equipment Maintenance and Repair:

  • Lead the inspection, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on seismic acquisition equipment, including trucks, vibrators and other seismic survey tools/Equipment.
  • Oversee the performance of regular maintenance and troubleshooting on heavy equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure equipment readiness and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with field teams to ensure equipment is operational and meets performance standards before and during seismic operations.
  • Ensures daily maintenance is performed by the equipment operators.
  • Ensures all required checks are performed on support units and that all repairs and damages are accurately recorded.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed in compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Seeks to understand and actively supports efforts to enhance service, profitability, productivity and efficiency within the assigned project(s).
  • As an individual and as team member, takes responsibility for ensuring company HSE&Q goals are achieved across assigned project(s).

Shop Management:

  • Manage shop personnel, including assigning tasks and providing training.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the maintenance shop, ensuring proper organization, cleanliness, and functionality.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of repairs and maintenance for seismic equipment and vehicles in the shop, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Maintain a detailed inventory of tools, spare parts, and supplies necessary for the repair and maintenance of seismic equipment.

  • Maintain safety standards in the shop, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed by shop personnel.
  • Manage and schedule any emergency repairs to minimize disruption to operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical certification in mechanics, equipment maintenance, Heavy Duty Mechanic or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience of 10+ years as a mechanic, ideally in the seismic, heavy machinery, or oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in heavy equipment.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles and machinery safely in adverse conditions.
  • Ability to read maps and use navigational software
  • Ability to work in remote and challenging field environments for extended periods, adapt to changing job duties and equipment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental best practices.
  • Familiarity/experience with permit-to-work systems.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

  • Must be 18 years of age and able to pass a pre-employment physical
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, Class 3 with Air Endorsement (asset)
  • Seismic industry experience is a plus
  • High attention to safety standards and quality in service and operations.
  • Ability to travel for fieldwork and project needs within Alaska on a rotational schedule.
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop a team of skilled mechanics.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage projects effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work in outdoor environments and harsh weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, kneeling, crouching, or sitting for extended periods during repairs.
